What a proposal charter costs.
Proposal charters on Malarky are $550/hour with a 2-hour minimum. The rate covers full private use of the boat plus a crew member to handle the moment quietly. A USCG-certified captain is $50/hour, paid directly to the captain, you pick from our available captains. Add-ons (water toys, photographer coordination, extended duration) are itemized separately. The hourly rate is flat: same any day, any season. The typical proposal charter is 2.5 to 3 hours, timed to put you on the bow at peak golden hour. For the full pricing structure (what's included, add-on options), see pricing details. You can also read about our other private yacht charter options for context on how the boat is configured.
Book 4 to 8 weeks ahead in summer.
Weekend evening slots are competitive, especially in summer (May through October) when the boat is booked solid. Mid-week evenings and dates outside summer typically have more open availability. If your proposal date is set (anniversary of first meeting, partner's birthday, a specific weekend you've been planning around), reserve early. We will not double-book a proposal charter, once your slot is held, it's held.
The pre-charter call is standard.
Once your booking is confirmed, we schedule a fifteen-minute call about a week before the charter to walk through the plan in detail (see Section 4). This isn't an upsell or a sales pitch; it's the coordination call. Skipping it on a proposal charter would be irresponsible on our part.
Cancellation: full deposit refund three or more weeks before, free reschedule up to one week before departure, weather-related flexibility on shorter notice. See the full 2026 cancellation policy →
